Pinpoint the blanking cap installation position (on the right and left). WARNING Install the blanking caps on the headlights’ front horizontal adjustment screws (green arrow, black screw). Do not install the blanking caps on the vertical adjustment screws (yellow arrow, white screw). 3. Install the left-side blanking cap on the front-left hole by pressing as far as it goes. Improper horizontal aim adjustment of the lower beam headlights is possible due to the absence of the blanking caps over the beam headlight horizontal adjustment screws. The customers can reach the horizontal adjustment screws and make improper horizontal adjustment by themselves. Improper headlight horizontal aim may result in glare to others on the road, motorists/road users, reduced visibility on one of the sides of the road, and reduced down-road visibility. All these scenarios can increase the risk of a crash. For all the reasons set forth above, it is therefore necessary to repair these vehicles. Further cross-department parts analysis revealed that the blanking caps were not being assembled in production. On February 26th, 2020, the matter was presented to the product safety committee at Automobili Lamborghini S.p.A. and it was determined that the absence of a blanking cap over the beam horizontal adjustment screw represents a noncompliance with 49 CFR 571.108, Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) No. 108 Lamps, Reflective Devices and Associated Equipment, point S10.18.9.2. On March 04th 2020, Automobili Lamborghini submitted a 573 report notifying the agency about the noncompliance and informing about the intention of submitting a petition for Inconsequential Noncompliance. On March 25th 2020, Automobili Lamborghini submitted the petition for Inconsequential Noncompliance. On February 10th 2022, Automobili Lamborghini received NHTSA’s Decision in consideration of the petition, which was denied. Accordingly, Automobili Lamborghini will provide free remedy for the non-compliance.
