Summary
Lamborghini (Automobili Lamborghini) is recalling certain 2015-2024 Huracan vehicles. The headlights may be incorrectly adjusted. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 108, “Lamps, Reflective Devices, and Associated Equipment.”
Remedy
Dealers will update the software to deactivate the headlight functions for Tourist Mode and the Adaptive Front-lighting System (AFS), free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed February 1, 2024. Owners may contact Lamborghini customer service at 1-866-681-6276. Lamborghini’s number for this recall is L62X-R.01.24.

Chronology :
In November 15, 2023 during product inspections in Japan an irregularity of available headlights functions was identified.
First analysis indicated contradictory implementation rules that could have been extended to additional markets.
Countermeasures were immediately implemented to ensure correct configuration of vehicles in production.
In November 23, 2023 investigations were launched to analyze the impact of the deviation on the range of the headlamps and cars produced. Identification of potentially affected vehicles initiated and legal assessment was requested.
In November 30, 2023 the results of investigation and assessments were presented in Lamborghini’s Product Safety Committee.
The Committee determined that a non-compliance with FMVSS 108 cannot be ruled out and decided to conduct a compliance recall.

Description of the Noncompliance :
The affected vehicles have a function on the infotainment system which allows the selection of headlight aiming for left hand driving (tourist mode).
Additionally, the Adaptive Front-lighting System (AFS) function might have been adjusted outside production specifications for the U.S. market. According to Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) 108, the headlight is not permitted to have a horizontal adjustment. Description of the Safety Risk : Incorrectly adjusted headlights may result in reduced visibility (for the driver and other motorists) which could increase the risk of a crash.
Description of the Cause : Due to a wrong rule implementation in the infotainment software, the headlight functions Tourist Mode and the Adaptive Front-lighting System are available. In this case, the vehicles do not comply with the requirements of
