Put the safety belt across the empty vehicle seat and insert the metal tongue of the belt into the buckle. 2. Pull the safety belt all the way out of the retractor to activate the Automatic Locking Retractor (ALR). 3. Caret ully let the safety belt retract fully into the retractor while the belt remains buckled, which simulates a restrained child seat. You will notice that when in ALR mode, there is a ratcheting/clicking noise from the retractor. This is normal. 4. Grasp the torso portion of the safety belt and carefully pull on the belt in an attempt to pull the belt back out of the retractor. The belt should not pull out of the retractor. 5. Unlatch the belt, and let it completely retract back into the retractor. 6. Repeat steps 1-5 five times (a total of 6 cycles). Automobili Lamborghini S.p.A. has decided that certain Model Year 2021 Urus vehicles fail to conform to Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 208, “Occupant Crash Protection.” Our records indicate that you are the owner of a vehicle in this recall. What is the issue? It has been determined that certain seat belt assemblies do not comply with FMVSS 208. In these certain seat belt assemblies, the automatic locking retractor (ALR) function may deactivate early before the webbing is fully retracted. The ALR function is required in the US market by FMVSS 208 S7.1.1.5. This noncompliance does not impact the capability or functionality of the seat belt assemblies when properly used by adult passengers. It also does not impact use of the LATCH system to secure child restraint seats. When securing a child restraint seat with the seat belt instead of the LATCH system, there is a possibility that the ALR system may malfunction. This would prevent the child restraint seat from being tightly secured, increasing the risk of injury of the occupant of the child restraint seat in a crash. For all the reasons set forth above, it is therefore necessary to repair these vehicles. Agata Bolognese, Italy, October 01, 2021 Dear valued Lamborghini Sales and Service Manager, It has been determined that certain seat belt assemblies do not comply with safety standards. In these certain seat belt assemblies, the automatic locking retractor (ALR) function may deactivate early before the webbing is fully retracted. This noncompliance does not impact the capability or functionality of the seat belt assemblies when properly used by adult passengers. It also does not impact use of the LATCH system to secure child restraint seats.
