Agata Bolognese, Italy, May 20, 2022 Dear valued Lamborghini Sales and Service Manager, In the course of continuous product monitoring and internal tests, Automobili Lamborghini S.p.A. has determined that a defect that relates to motor vehicle safety exists in certain 2020 & 2022 Huracan EVO and 2022 Huracan STO vehicles. The gearbox may have an insufficient amount of transmission oil, due to a supplier mistake, which can result in clutch slippage Clutch slippage can cause a loss of drive power and increase the risk of a crash. Also, in certain driving situations the transmission oil can foam and leak out of the gear vent. Leaked transmission oil in the presence of hot exhaust system parts can increase the risk of a fire. For the reasons listed above, in a precautionary manner, Automobili Lamborghini decided to launch a worldwide recall campaign to rework the involved cars. An investigation started immediately to determine the possible effects and root cause. In March 2022, results from the investigation revealed that the issue was caused by a defective scale at the supplier which delivered wrong oil weight data for oil filling. Also, the risk assessment indicated a possibility that in extreme driving situations (race track operation), the transmission oil can foam and leak out of the gear vent. In March 30 the matter was presented at the Product Safety Committee which determined that a potential safety consequence cannot be ruled out and decided to conduct a voluntary safety recall for the affected vehicles. An investigation started immediately to determine the possible effects and root cause. In March 2022, results from the investigation revealed that the issue was caused by a defective scale at the supplier which delivered wrong oil weight data for oil filling. Also, the risk assessment indicated a possibility that in extreme driving situations (race track operation), the transmission oil can foam and leak out of the gear vent. In March 30 the matter was presented at the Product Safety Committee which determined that a potential safety consequence cannot be ruled out and decided to conduct a voluntary safety recall for the affected vehicles. Lamborghini is not aware of any warranty claims or customer claims due to this issue. Lamborghini will offer a reimbursement plan under this recall. How Remedy Component Differs from Recalled Component : The recalled component is the amount of oil that was filled in the gearbox. The recall remedy component can be distinguished from the recalled component because the oil level will be according to requirements. Identify How/When Recall Condition was Corrected in Production : Vehicles produced after December 21, 2021 have been built with gearboxes filled with the correct amount of oil.
