Incorrect GVWR on Certification Label/Part 567

An overloaded vehicle may increase the risk of suspension or tire failure, increasing the risk of a crash.

 

Summary

Automobili Lamborghini (Lamborghini) is recalling certain 2017 Lamborghini Centenario Coupe and Centenario Roadster vehicles. The certification label on these vehicles may have an incorrect weight limit, which can cause the vehicle to be overloaded. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of 49 CFR Part 567, “Certification.”

 

Remedy

Lamborghini will notify owners, and dealers will install a corrected certification label, free of charge. Owners may contact Lamborghini customer service at 1-866-681-6276. Lamborghini’s number for this recall is L73XR0118.

Incorrect GVWR on Certification Label

This notice applies to Your Lamborghini Centenario with the VIN XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

Dear Lamborghini Owner, Lessee,

This notice is sent to you in accordance with the National Traffic and Motor Vehicle Safety Act. Automobili Lamborghini S.p.A. has decided that a defect exists in certain Model Year 2017 Centenario Coupè and Roadster vehicles . The certification label on these vehicles may have an incorrect weight limit, which can cause the vehicle to be overloaded.  As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of 49 CFR Part 567, “Certification.”  Our records indicate that you are the owner of a vehicle in this recall.

Please contact your authorized Lamborghini dealer immediately to schedule an appointment to have this important free repair performed as soon as possible. You can locate your nearest authorized Lamborghini Dealer at https://www.lamborghini.com/en-en/ownership/dealerlocator

 

What is the issue?

The affected vehicles might be equipped with a Manufacturer Certification label that lists an incorrect weight limit. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of 49 CFR Part 567.

If the listed weight limit is incorrect on the label the vehicle may be overloaded exceeding the vehicle weight rating, which could lead to vehicle instability increasing the risk of a crash.

The vehicle weight limit shown on the safety certification label is incorrectly specified as 4630 lbs., with front axle weight limit as 2205 lbs. and the rear axle weight limit as 2535 lbs. The correct values should read for Coupè and Roadster versions as follows:

Centenario Coupè
Vehicle weight limit: 4519 lbs.
Front axle weight limit: 2050 lbs.
Rear axle weight limit: 2491 lbs.

Centenario Roadster
Vehicle weight limit: 4630 lbs.
Front axle weight limit: 2094 lbs.
Rear axle weight limit: 2535 lbs.

For all the reason set forth above, it is therefore necessary to upgrade these vehicles. If you are not the only driver of this vehicle, please advise all other drivers and passengers of this important information.

What will Lamborghini do?

We will change the Manufacturer Certification label “Free of Charge”. The repair could take up to 1 hour. We apologize for any inconvenience this recall may cause.

Please bring this letter and your Service Booklet with you when you visit the dealer, so that we can make all necessary entries.

Affected vehicles can continue to be driven as usual, but until this recall repair has been performed, do not rely on the weight limit shown on the Manufacturer Certification label;

 

What if you are not the current owner of this vehicle?

You can update your vehicle ownership or contact information by filling out the enclosed document (Appendix A) and sending it to Lamborghini by following the detailed instructions present on it.

If you are a vehicle lessor, Federal Regulations require you to forward this notice to your lessee within ten days.
